t h i r t y f o u r

Oh mah God.
I'm 34.
Still rounding DOWN to 30 if you ask me.

Actually, if you ask me, I fee like I'm 28.
And, me in a lineup with fellow 28 year olds, I think I could pass as one.
That is until I smile, that's when my "laugh lines" really poke through ;-)

I have one gray hair.
I got it when I was a young 33 and pregnant with Kaya.
I thought that lil booger fell out and was all Bye Felicia!  (for real for real, I was)
I was, also wrong.  She reared her ugly head again and appeared out of nowhere.

I have 3 kids.

:: Give me ALL the babies ::

Thank you God, for making me their mother.  Those peeps are teaching this mama bird lots of lessons of the heart.

To be quite honest, being 34 feels great.
Age is just a number, am I right?
At least that's what my older husband tells me ;-)

I have great parents, who take care of me way more than they should since I'm a grown *ss woman (that's what 34 year olds are, right?)
WE can never thank you enough for all that you do.

I have a Tribe.  Squad.  Lifeline if you will of friends scattered all over the country.
Namely, the bEast coast.  I couldn't have made it through these 34 years without them.
I'm gonna go ahead and zoom in on years 30-32 mmmkay.  Y'all.  Y'all saved me.

I have created a family here of friends, took me a while but I'm so grateful for them.  My bank accounts not ;-) but I am. Y'all are my sanity savers.

I have a small business that has remained steady and I am so excited to where things are going.

I have a great husband.
I'm so proud of him.
We've pretty much been through more than most people at the ripe young ages of 34 and 38 have gone through together.

But we did it.
T o g e t h e r.

I have Faith.
I have hope.
I have today.
I have now.

I have all that I need.
And then some.

Cheers to 34.

Coltrane S I X

Create in my son a clean heart,
O God,
and renew
a right spirit within him.  {Psalm 51:10}

My sweet, sensitive, soul.
You are six.

What the what?!  How is this possible?  You were just a baby with these big hands and feet and with an even bigger personality.

"I'm not going to tattle,
now that I'm six."

Coltrane, you make my heart smile.  You are one of a kind.
I pray for you, my sweet babiest boy.  I pray for me to be able to parent you
and understand you
and to hear you.

And for you to hear us and
hear how loud our love for YOU is.

Mark my words, you will be a famous athlete one day.
I dare any "big kid" to go against you, in football.
Thank you for busting your butt to keep up with those big kids.
The speed at which your legs fly makes me smile.

You make Daddy and I laugh.

Belly laugh.

Connectic fo = Connect Four -----  Polka dots = Goosebumps
When it's cold = God has his refrigerator open ----- When it's lightning = God's taking a picture
When it's raining ----- God is taking a shower

I keep note of all your Coltraneisms.

Always in a costume.
I mean, uniform.

Your style.  Been the same since you were two years old.
Keep it up, my sweet.

"Keep your head up, Keep your heart strong."
Thanks for always reminding me of that.

Coltrane.  I hope you understand how much Daddy and I love you.

We love YOU more.

1/52 {2016}

Oh hey!
Project's been a while.
I used to be so good at these things.  Like no, for real, for real.

And then I stopped.  (I'm like that, though)
But here we are.  2016.  I got this.

It will be r a n d om and s p o r a d i c and a lot like M E.

But no, I'm going to commit to this and I'm excited to push myself to get back my groove.  I mean, if Stella can do it, so can I...Am I right?!

Holidays 2015

It has been a whirlwind of a Winter so far.  Between work, moving, Kyle's schedule and getting sick (twice).

The day before we left for Florida was the first day in a while that the entire family was healthy, work was finished and almost all our boxes have been unpacked.  Holler!!!

 A few phone snaps.

I think this might be our last trip to Naples for Christmas :-/
Flying with 3 kids and all our gear is becoming a lot, especially during December when we're all so swamped with work.
That said...we might be back this Summer, ha!

Next up, 2016!

Kaya 9 Month

Here is sweet cheeks, 9 months old video.
Thank the good Lord, I've been so busy with work that I've really, really, really neglected this here blog.  But, in the new year, I truly hope to keep up here better and with some new ramblings too.

Don't mark my words, though  ;)

KAYA EATS // Adventures in Baby Led Weaning

I'm a short order cook y'all.  I make different meals for multiple people in our house.
This madness, has.  Got.  To.  Stop.

My boys are super picky, partially because, I allowed them to and partially because they know what they like and don't like.  But wanting pasta, every damn day?  Really??!

Enter baby led weaning for the baby.   You can read all about it here.  It doesn't mean weaning off of nursing (don't worry, I plan to keep that up as long as I did boys if she'll let me and since she won't take a bottle, I'm thinking we'll be a-ok in that department)  But letting your baby eat real food from the get go.  In the hopes of introducing a big variety of flavors early.  Meaning--please God let her not be as picky as her brothers.

I'm no expert.
I won't go into too many details on what you can/can't have etc.  If I was a first time Mom, I'm not sure I would venture into this World because it can be a little nerve racking watching them, and I am still not completely positive we'll be sticking with it because well, purees are so much easier and waaaay less messy.  But with a million other things I need to be doing and tending to, steaming, pureeing, storing baby food is not on my list of things to do!

It's been about 2 weeks that we've done BLW.  We started with avocado and broccoli.  She's now had avocado, broccoli, banana, apple, green beans, sweet potato, chicken, steak, eggs, Mexican quinoa, meatballs and bean and cheese breakfast taco.  Broccoli being her favorite and the breakfast taco coming in hot.  Total Kennan.

Meal time is now Matilda's most favorite time of the day ;-)

Kaya grunts and hums when she eats too.  Sounds about right.  The boys love watching her eat and are quick to make sure she's not gagging etc which she does do (yikes!) but we're having so much fun with BLW, so for now we'll be keeping it up!
